About InkML.org
InkML.org was introduced to make pen-based data input and communication accessible and easy. The project was initiated and is currently managed by Professor Stephen M. Watt, director of Ontario Research Center for Computer Algebra (ORCCA). It is developed by the Pen-Math group of ORCCA. InkML.org currently consists of the following subprojects that can be used either separately or in a unified framework.
- MathQuest. The main purpose of MathQuest is to provide a user with an opportunity to recognize handwriting, based on the personal dataset of characters. Personal collection of written characters is stored on a remote server as well as on the user’s machine. When the user runs MathQuest, local samples are synchronized with the collection, stored on our server. Therefore, the user has an option to run MathQuest on any machine, connected to the Internet, and be able to access her writing samples for recognition or viewing purposes. In addition, MathQuest has an option to recognise handwriting based on the build-in set of training samples. MathQuest is originally targeted toward recognition of mathematical symbols, but can be used in a more general setting, depending on the set of training samples, provided by the user.
- InkChat is an application for voice and pen-based communication over network on a shared canvas. InkChat allows archiving voice and ink media produced during a session and can be deployed on a variety of devices and platforms.
